The Giant Squid is generous

One of my favorite bands out there right is Giant Squid. Not many people seem to like them but every time I get a chance to listen to them, I take that chance with glee. Well awhile back they self-released their epic new album, The Icthyologist, and it only had a limited release number because of it being self-released. Now they have that same album and it has a new cover which I love even more than the first, which is hard to achieve. But let alone is it more awesome than originally, they want you to buy it so much that they are willing to allow it up for stream in it's entirety!!! Here is the link and once you have finished going through it's epic proggyness(?), go and buy it already.

Sumerian Records always pleases me...mostly anyways.

I don't believe I have told anybody how much I like Fell Silent (pictured below). I really don't think I have even told anybody that I like them, no matter how much.

These are usaully accused of cheating off of bands like Mesuggah and mainly Sikth. That might be true but does that mean we can't like them? I can understand if is bands like ABACABB (another band from Sumerian records, yet they play mindless deathcore), but having this band who plays sporadic mathcore, is okay, and this is why. This music is few and far between. Fairly rarely do you see many good mathcore bands come out of the breakdown and crabcrouch infested scenes we have today.

Instead of complaining about how much they are like one of your favorite bands, be thankful that young kids coming up are listening to good music, and not Brokencyde.

Sorry...

I haven't been posting that much for the past few days but, to be honestly with you, nothing has been going on. I just got the new Baroness album, and simply put, it slays. I will write a review one of these days. I pre-ordered the new Red Chord CD, Fed Through The Teeth Machine, which I have heard to be amazing. Otherwise nothing is going on. I will be going to see Dethklok, Mastodon, Converge, and High on Fire in a few weeks. I will write a review on each live show. Otherwise I will have to let you guys just re-read my past blogs.

No Metal!

Sometimes we can't always rock out the Converge or the Cannibal Corpse, that's why we need to take a step back and listen to something in stantard tuning and includes a man/woman who can actually sing. Therefore I will take 60 seconds out of your day to allow you to hear ACTUAL MUSICAL COMPOSTION, not that all metal doesn't have musical compostion, but honestly don't try to tell me that all the metal bands we listen to does. And now, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, The Flight of the Concords.

Comedic genious at it's greatest in musical form. I just got their self-titled CD and it blows my mind. If these guys made truly serious music, we would bow at it's feet. Only because it is a little childish at times, people immediatly blow it off. I am here to change that person. Please check out these guys music, show, pictures, urine, or anything else involved with these guys. And please remember, "My rhymes are bottemless........"

Jacob Bannon with Metalsucks.net

The guys at metalsucks.net got a lucky chance to meet with the vocalist of the legendary band, Converge, whos name is Jacob Bannon. I feel lucky enough to even read this man's words. Read it now.

Did I Mention How Much I Love the Red Chord?

I just found out why they named their band The Red Chord. Read this statement from a Lambgoat interview from awhile back,
"[It's] from a German play where a schizophrenic man slits the throat of his lover, but then reverts to his normal self and asks “My love, what is that red chord across your neck?”
One word: METAL.

Metal Injection, Thank you for this one guys...

Metal Injection just posted a new song from the highly anticipated new album from the Red Chord, Fed Through the Teeth Machine. "One Robot To Another" simply put, blows my mind. If you are still reading, haven't skipped this for the link at the bottom, and  haven't yet opened up another tab or webpage for said link, you are obviously drunk and you should go to the back alley to puke your brains out for you obviously haven't started using them of late.

Wednesdays of Woe

Unlike a majority of metalheads, I do have a life. And wednesdays just happen to be one of the most jam-packed days of the week. Therefore, I will be posting very little, if at all. But I will make sure to post one blog of my pick for the best video of the week.

This weeks video comes from the hardcore gods, Converge. They have a new album coming out soon and this is the video for the title track. Beginning the jizzing.

I am Currently in the Teeth Machine

There has been a lot of talk about Baroness' new album and Converge's new record, and to show no disrespect to those because I am equally stoked about their records too, but the Red Chord's new showing, Fed Through the Teeth Machine, is on a whole different level for me. My favorite grindcore/mathcore band is starting to promote this soon to be beast by selling EVERYTHING IN THEIR STORE WITH A PRE-ORDER OF THE NEW RECORD!!! Get buying people. Out October 27th.

"I had to wear corpse paint to blend in!"

The crime scene TV show Bones has had an episode out for awhile about a skeleton used as a Norwegian Black Metal band's prop. Then they find out that it is an actual person and the typical murder/crime scene show ensues. The only thing that blows my mind about this episode is how ignorant they are about their metal. I could have at least given them advice for free about each type of metal and how they sound but no, now every metal band on the show wears corpse paint and inverted crosses and talks about how they kill their band members for street cred. How ignorant...

Baroness is the Freakin' Best Band Alive Right Now!!!

Baroness released the highly anticipated new Blue Record today and they have had the album streaming on their MySpace for awhile now and I have to say they are geniuses. "A Horse Called Golgotha" is the best song I have ever heard and that is most defiantly the best combination of words ever conceived, let alone placed as a song title. They blow my mind.

The Best Metal to Listen to While Studying

But metal is fun.

I am taking a PSAT tomorrow morning and so the night will be filled with less debauchery and more books than desired. But a nerd can not be only nerd for there must always be metal! Therefore the question arises, What metal is the best for the study session(in no particular order)?

Baroness-The pure rock riffs blessed upon us in their latest release, The Blue Record(OUT TODAY!!!), mixed with the heavy screams of a banshee make the perfect balance for hitting the books. Just make sure the adventure your mind will go on while listening doesn't take you too far!

Mastodon-If you listen to every song released by these metal gods, from beginning to end, starting with Remission and ending with Crack the Skye, your mind will be blown and you will fail your test. If you only listen to Crack the Skye, you will be lucky to survive from the awesomeness being blown into your mind. I recommend going to Leviathan and ending with Blood Mountain. That should be enough to get you going.

Gojira-As a high school French student, learning a language is interesting, but rather useless seeing how I'm poor and will never make it out of America. As a metalhead, listening to Gojira is better than the entire nation of France. Honestly, there should be no explanation here.

Between the Buried and Me-13:11(Ants of the Sky) long songs are a given. One album will make your study session, I will bet money on it.

The Black Dahlia Murder-"Slay me, this studying thing sucks!" you will say. The Black Dahlia Murder can so.

Big Whoop. It's only Arch Enemy!

Metalsucks.net has been promoting this "amazing" tour that they have been sponsoring since last week. I will admit, the way that they promoted was really cool, by not telling who was on the bill but releasing an interview with a member of each band and then letting the reader guess. Cool, and knowing the guys at Metalsucks, I knew I would love this tour based off we have the same musical love, most of the time at least.

As the bands were slowly revealed to us starting with Mutiny Within and then ending with Arch Enemy, I became more and more depressed. In my opinion, Arsis is the only one worth going to see. At least they are the only one that has at least some musical difference from our vast metal scene.

Axl, Vince, you made me sad on this one guys.
